Large bike links.

I studied bicycle links so I thought why not make large scale ones and have them built the same as the originals so they can move freely. :)



Knitting :)

I didn't use any knitting skills in my semester one project so I thought I'd slip it in here :) It was hard and took me aaaaages but I finally finished my three little chain links :) tough is an understatement :/

My wooden frame.

I came up with this idea (with the help of Mike Fox and Ernesto Neto) of making a large wooden frame and suspending four chains from each corner and connect them in the middle with some stretch material, tights. My plan is to put different weights on the stretch material to show the movement of chains. The heavier the weight, the more tense the chain is, the lighter the chain, the more loose it is. :)

Starting my research.

So I started looking up books, internet, everywhere really for artists that have something in common with my idea. I came across a bunch so I only gonna give ye a few. :)

• Ernesto Neto is a contemporary artist that works with stretch materials. Here is some of his works. 

 

• Nolia Shakti is another great artists that works with chains.

• Seo Young Deok. He is an amazing artist that works with bicycle links to create human forms. Incredible.
